State of the Union: Proud, Cheerful, Spirited!

The University of Florida is in Gainesville.  The Gator Nation is everywhere. Last year, our team set out to return an undefeated season.  They fell short, with a home loss to Ole Miss.  Then came “The Promise,” a heartfelt proclamation from Quaterback Tim Tebow.  On September 27, 2008, Tebow said:

To the fans and everybody in Gator Nation, I’m sorry.  I’m extremely sorry.  We were hoping for an undefeated season.  That was my goal, something Florida has never done here.

I promise you one thing, a lot of good will come out of this.  You will never see any player in the entire country play as hard as I will play the rest of the season.  You will never see someone push the rest of the team as hard as I will push everybody the rest of the season.

You will never see a team play harder than we will play the rest of the season.  God bless.

They won their remaining ten games and this season our boys finished the mission.  The promise may have been delivered by one, but it was kept by a team and felt by all.  With the support of the Gator Nation they proved that we’re up for a challenge, whether on the Florida Field or your astro turf.  They defended The Swamp and validated the statement, “Only Gators get out alive.”

It truly is great to be a Florida Gator!  We love to watch because our team plays with heart.  My drawing is dedicatd to the 2009 Florida Gator football team.

Congrats and thank you.  Go Gators!
