Happy Birthday President Obama!

August 4, 2010

The Greek philosopher Heraclitus said, “The only thing constant is change.”

Our country’s first African-American President ran his campaign on change.  Barack Obama made the country believe that if they pulled together, those of us who thought we’d never be heard could have a voice.  He showed us that when people pool their votes together, they could effect change.

Now I’m borrowing from those themes and asking you for change – the kind that jingles and the kind that folds, to bring about the kind that affects lives.  I have a goal to raise $1,000 for public school students in my community.  These are students who have registered for Free/Reduced Lunch, and have to make a choice between sustaining their tummies with a meal or their minds with knowledge.

That’s not a choice that a kid should have to make.  I’d like to help them become the change that I want to see in this world.  Please visit my fundraising page and read more about A Gift For Teaching, the organization that I am supporting.

“Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.” ~Barack Obama

Thank you for your consideration!
